One person is dead and two are seriously injured after a car crashed into a parked truck in Opotiki tonight, police say.
Three people had been in the car when it crashed about 6.30pm on King St in the Bay of Plenty town, Senior Sergeant Matt Rogers said.
No one was in the truck.
Emergency services had to cut some of the people from the vehicle and the street had been closed, Mr Rogers told NZPA.
It was too early to say whether speed and alcohol were factors in the crash, he said.
Police were investigating.
