A person is dead after a fire in a flat in central Auckland last night.
Police are investigating the fatal fire in a block of four flats in Mt Roskill, which broke out just before midnight.
Fire Service northern communications manager Carren Larking said there were multiple calls to the Rainsford St property but by the time they arrived the rear flat was engulfed in fire.
Police said a body was found inside the address.
They were now investigating the circumstances of the fire and the death.
