The driver of a car has died in a head-on collision with a truck and trailer unit in Bay of Plenty.
The crash happened on State Highway One about five kilometres south of Kinleith, at 3.20am.
Police say the driver of the car was alive when emergency services arrived, but died at the scene a few minutes later.
The driver of the truck is uninjured.
The road will be closed until the scene has been cleared.
