One dead after car crashes down bank

A 19-year-old man was killed this morning after a car crashed down a bank on SH58, at Haywards Hill in Porirua, police said.

Sergeant Dexter Traill, of Porirua police, said the accident occurred about 3.30am.

There were 3 people in the car and the man died at the scene.

The road was expected to be closed for some time.
