One of the men involved in a collision near Blenheim today has died.
Police say a Ford Falcon ute and a Toyota Camry collided on State Highway 6 between Havelock and Renwick about 2:45pm.
Emergency services found two people seriously injured. Both were flown to hospital by helicopter, with what a spokesperson for the Nelson Marlborough Rescue Helicopter described as 'life threatening injuries'.
Both patients had to be cut from their respective vehicles by fire crews from Blenheim, Nelson and Havelock, and were treated at the scene by St John Intensive Care Paramedics before being airlifted to hospital.
The length of time taken to remove the men from their vehicles meant a second helicopter had to be called in to transport the second patient.
