A man has been charged after a dog fatally mauled a one-day-old baby at a Hamilton house.
Baby Jaxon died in Waikato Hospital 24 hours after being mauled at his Enderley home in October.
His mother had gone to the bathroom when a large Rottweiler Bear attacked; dragging the newborn into the garden. The dog then trying to bury him.
A 21-year-old man has now been charged with owning a dog that causes serious injury/death to any person, an offence against Section 58 of the Dog Control Act 1996.
He has name suppression after appearing in the Hamilton District Court this afternoon.
