A male is in critical condition and six others are injured after a van hit a horse in Taupiri, Waikato.
The horse was killed in the incident which happened on Whitikahu Rd just after 11pm yesterday.
The male remained in critical condition and was in intensive care at Waikato Hospital this morning. He was airlifted there last night.
A Waikato District Health Board spokesperson confirmed six other people injured in the crash, including three who were seriously hurt, were now in stable condition at Waikato Hospital.
Police said there was no indication that the horse was being ridden at the time.
