One critical after East Cape crash

A person is in a critical condition after reports of a car crashing into a bridge at Waihau Bay on the East Cape.

The driver has been flown out by a rescue helicopter.

Inspector Cornelius Kluessien said the driver is believed to be in a critical condition.

He said the serious crash unit from Whakatane will be investigating the crash.
