One child dead, another injured in Christchurch crash

One child is dead and another seriously injured after a car crashed into an adult and two children pedestrians on a Christchurch street tonight.

Police and two ambulance crews were called to the crash on Linwood Ave, between Buckleys Ave and Jollie St, shortly after 5pm.

The car spun out of control on the wet road after coming around a corner and struck the pedestrians in fading light, The Press reported.

One child, believed to be aged about six, died at the scene and the other was taken to Christchurch Hospital.
