KEY POINTS:
Police investigating the murder of Chattrice Maihi-Carroll in Napier are still trying to identify one of the cars seen in the area.
Ms Maihi-Carroll's naked body was found by her sister in her Cottrell Crescent home in the suburb of Onekawa on January 21.
The 46-year-old was the mother of four adult children.
She lived alone, was stabbed many times, and may also have been sexually assaulted.
Yesterday, police asked for people to come forward with information about a Ford Telstar and Toyota Estima seen near her home on January 20.
The Ford Telstar has been ruled out of the inquiry after its owner came forward, inquiry head Detective Inspector Sam Aberahama said today.
Police still wanted to hear about the Toyota people mover seen between 8.30pm and 9.15pm on January 20, parked at the top of the driveway behind the block of flats where Ms Maihi-Carroll lived.
It was described as a 1995 model or similar, with black moulded roof racks.
"It's important that we speak to the owner or the occupants of this car as we need to eliminate them from the inquiry," Mr Aberahama said.
"The car may have been there for various reasons - but we would stress that we are only interested in anything that relates specifically to our inquiry."
