The Ombudsman has launched an investigation into whether an Auckland councillor knew she already had another job when she received a redundancy payout of more than $200,000.
Former Papakura District Council chief executive Theresa Stratton received $209,730 upon leaving that job, before stepping into a role in Auckland Mayor Len Brown's office in November last year, the Sunday Star Times reported today.
The Office of the Ombudsman is investigating why the Auckland Council would not disclose whether Ms Stratton knew she was going to get the job when she accepted the sizeable payout, the newspaper said.
