Six new parking meters will be installed in Jackson, Church, and Park Sts in Masterton as a part of a CBD footpath upgrade.
Thirty-nine parking meters that already line these streets will be replaced by six multi-space parking meters, two in each street.
The cost of the footpath upgrade is $310,000 and this budget includes the renewal of stormwater drainage, the installation of new parking meters, and the resurfacing of footpaths.
The council has given an assurance the works will not affect businesses and that "no footpaths will be left unsurfaced during the day, which will help to keep shops and businesses operating normally".
Most of the work will take place between 5pm and 7am.
