Harcourts could be without three of their most experienced campaigners when they attempt to win their fourth successive Netball Wairarapa premier one title next year.
Geraldine Carroll, Emma Foote and Carlene Karaitiana all had prominent parts to play when their side staved off a brave Makoura College 54-52 in this year's grand final at the Colombo Road courts last weekend but there are serious doubts about whether they will be part of the Harcourts squad again next season.
"All three of them are talking retirement ... we'll just have to wait and see what happens," another of the regulars in the Harcourts line-up, Sarah Watson, said this week. "They've done a great job for us over the years and obviously they would be missed ... big time."
Watson, who was ruled out of the grand final by an ankle injury, is optimistic, however, that even if Carroll, Foote and Karaitiana do retire Harcourts will remain a competitive force in the local scene.
She said the club was always keen to boost their playing ranks with young, promising talent no longer at college and they would be "very open" to approaches from that quarter.
