Police are asking motorist to take extreme care after a diesel spill on State Highway 29 at the top of the Kaimais in the Waikato.
The spill extends for about 4kms on either side of the summit in the west-bound lanes.
Contractors are on their way to clean the spill, but will not be at the scene until about 9.30am.
Police said the road is wet and is causing problems for vehicles, however some drivers appear to be ignoring signs highlighting the danger. No accidents have been reported at this stage.
