Motorists had a slow trip into the city on Auckland's southern motorway today after a truck carrying oil spilled part of its load over several kilometres.
Police warned motorists to slow down and put up warning signs while clean up crews dealt with the mess.
Inspector Lou Alofa from the police Northern Communications Centre in Auckland said it appeared the driver was unaware of the spill for several kilometres.
He said the northbound lanes of the motorway near Drury, at the southern end, were affected from Mercer to near Manukau City.
