A spill on the Brynderwyns, between Auckland and Whangarei, is causing issues for heavy vehicles, police report.
Police have received several reports of a large oil or diesel spill on State Highway 1, near Mangawai.
Heavy vehicles are having traction difficulties on steep gradients, police said, and one vehicle has lost control and left the road near Baldrock Road.
NZTA contractors have been notified and police are advising extreme care in the area.
