A man suffered burns to his face following an oil explosion at a business in Northland.
Police were called to Little River Transport, in Beach Rd, Dargaville at 10.07am Sundayafter an oil tank exploded, injuring a 73-year-old man.
The man suffered burns to his face and was transported to Whangarei Hospital in a moderate condition. Police said WorkSafe would be investigating, however, when the Advocate contacted WorkSafe yesterdayit had not yet been notified about the incident.
The owner of Little River Transport did not wish to comment. One person who was in the area at the time, who did not wish to be named, said he had heard a "really loud" explosion and soon after fire, ambulance and police were all on scene.
