Police say a fire that destroyed a large home in Ohautiti this morning is being treated as suspicious.
Fire fighters were called to the two-storey house on Ohauiti Road early this morning. The house was almost completely destroyed by the fire.
The Bay of Plenty Times understands that no one was home at the time of the fire.
Detective Logan Nicholas said the fire was being treated as an arson. Fire safety officer Ken McKeagg said it was still too unsafe to go inside the building but early indications were that the fire had started in the centre of the house.
