About 250 government workers were evacuated from their offices on Auckland's North Shore for three hours today following a bomb threat.
Three levels of offices which housed Work and Income, Child, Youth and Family and North Shore City Council in Takapuna were evacuated following two threatening phone calls after 11.10am.
Specialist police searchers including police dogs found nothing and the 250 affected employees were allowed back to work about 2.30pm.
Police spokesman Kev Loughlin said the evacuation was ordered following phone calls to a Work and Income staff member about 11.10am and 11.30am.
The area in Lake Road was cordoned off within minutes, and pedestrian access nearby was restricted.
Mr Loughlin said police investigations into the incident, including the identity of the caller, were continuing.
