Officer punched

TOKOROA: A police officer suffered a broken jaw last night after allegedly being attacked by a motorcyclist he had pulled over.

The man was stopped by officers at Tar Hill on State Highway 1 just before 7.30pm.

The man pulled over for the officers but police said he lashed out before fleeing. However, a short while later he crashed into a cop car on Main St, Tokoroa.

The motorcyclist broke his leg in the crash.
