A police officer suffered whiplash injuries after his car was rammed from behind when he slowed down for a school bus this morning.
Waikato district road policing manager Inspector Leo Tooman said the crash happened on State Highway 3 about a kilometre from turnoff to Waitomo Caves at 8.30am.
As the police officer slowed down for the bus, a car came round a bend and drove into the back of the patrol car, he said.
While the officer and a passenger from the other car were treated for minor injuries, the bus carried on its way.
Mr Tooman said this morning's crash served as a timely reminder for motorists about the legal 20km/h speed limit when approaching stationary school buses picking up or dropping of children.
