Officer faces sex charges

A 20-year-old police officer is facing a series of sex charges relating to two women.

Ethan Brown appeared in the Auckland District Court this week on three counts of indecent assault and two of sexual violation.

The charges relate to two different complainants.

One incident allegedly occurred in January last year, and the other in September.

After inquiries from the Weekend Herald yesterday, Counties Manukau police issued a statement confirming the arrest.

The officer had been suspended from duty while an investigation was carried out, it said.

A woman at Brown's house refused to say if he was home yesterday.

He was remanded on bail to appear in the Waitakere District Court next month.

Brown's lawyer Todd Simmonds said Brown denied the allegations, and the matter would go to trial.
