The armed offenders squad blocked off an Auckland street and entered a house to seek a man responsible for a string of violence offences in central and west Auckland, but could not find him at the address.
The squad was called to 98 St Georges Rd, Avondale, at 11am and cordoned off the street from Chalmers St to Kevinside St.
Police said they had received information there was a person in that address responsible for a string of violent offences in the central and west Auckland areas during the past two weeks.
The person was not in the address when the armed offenders squad gained entry about two hours later, after 1pm.
No shots were fired and no one was injured as a result of the incident.
