Offences against family alleged

A 50-year-old Kaitaia man has been charged with sexually violating, assaulting and defrauding his family members in offending spanning 22 years.

The man will appear before before Kaitaia District Court tomorrow on 54 charges of assault, sexual offences, arson and fraud.

Detective Senior Sergeant Rhys Johnston said today's arrest is the result of a recent investigation by a team of 10 detectives.

"Police are unable to comment further as this matter is now before the court."
