There's a lot of room between Martinborough and Gladstone, which most of us never see.
But last weekend the Wairarapa 4 Wheel Drive Club opened a lot of farm gates for a tour to raise funds for the local branch of Alzheimer's NZ.
The club negotiated access to farms Glendu, Ko Te Kahu, Glenburn and Rocky Hill, to enjoy 135km of scenery for 87 four-wheel-drive vehicles.
Club member Ron Williams said it was a privilege as a club to take guests on the journey, which included a few challenges of rocks, bogs and creek crossings.
He said around 49km of the trip was off-road, plus some dusty tracks.
