The off-duty Webstar worker was reported as quite seriously injured with fractures and possibly a head injury,
An assistant at the Webstar printing plant has fallen almost seven metres through a ceiling void on to an ink pump, injuring himself.
He was quite seriously injured with fractures and possibly a head injury, said a fellow employee, who did not wished to be named.
"He fell through over six metres, almost seven metres."
The assistant wasn't rostered on to work and wasn't meant to be there.
"He came into work and took his girlfriend up into the roof and the ceiling gave way."
The employee said the man had left the gangwalk and walked over to the corner of the ceiling when it gave way.
"He could have killed someone."
The man is in Wairarapa Hospital.
Webstar confirmed the incident, which is non-work related, and is investigating.
The incident happened on Saturday night at the plant on Ngaumutawa Rd in Masterton.
