The $2.5 million "Featherston Gateway" construction, incorporating a Supervalue supermarket, cafe, Kiwi Bank, Post Shop and bottle store, is expected to be completed by mid-October.
Trust House chief executive Allan Pollard gave an update to the Featherston Community Board and members of the public in a slideshow presentation on Tuesday night.
Mr Pollard said they chose the "Gateway" name because of Featherston being a gateway to Wairarapa.
Opening hours for the Supervalue were likely to be 6am to 10pm, although this was "tentative" at this stage.
Gusto cafe would be slightly bigger, accessible from the supermarket as well as outside and would have an outdoor area with a shade sail.
