Hawkes Bay missed out on up to $150,000 in tourist spending because of ocean surges that forced a cruise ship to bypass Napier yesterday.
The difficult conditions prevented the Statendam with about 1200 passengers from berthing or from being moored safely.
The Hawke's Bay Today calculated that $150,000 was lost to the city.
