The occupants of a squashed car have walked away but the driver of a second car had to be cut from the wreckage.
Two cars and a truck/trailer unit collided this morning on SH6 near Rai, on the Nelson - Picton road. Both cars were crushed.
A Blenheim woman aged in her 60s was cut from her vehicle by the Fire Service, and the occupants of the second car managed to remove themselves uninjured from what was left of their vehicle.
The injured woman was initially treated at the scene, and she and her passenger were then flown by the Nelson Marlborough Rescue Helicopter to the Wairau Emergency Department for further assessment and treatment.
