The young occupants of car that plunged more than 30 metres down a cliff this morning have "miraculously" survived.
A rescue helicopter was able to winch the youths after they got out of the upturned car wreckage which had driven off a rural road near Taihape at about 9am.
One of the car's occupants, an 18-year-old male from Bulls, was hoisted into the helicopter on a stretcher due to suspected spinal injuries. He was taken to Palmerston North Hospital.
Two other occupants were from Marton and Bulls.
Police, fire and the ambulance service also attended the accident.
