Police investigating the homicide of Damien Loder Allen say they are frustrated at being stonewalled by possible witnesses who could shed light on his death.
Emergency services discovered the 33-year-old dead in his home in the Auckland suburb of Hillsborough last month, after others in the house made 111 calls.
Mr Allen died of head injuries on September 24.
Detective Inspector Scott Beard said there were "obvious gaps" in the information police had received from occupants of the house and associates who may have been present before Mr Allen's death.
A preliminary reconstruction of the scene revealed it may have been cleaned and Mr Allen's body moved before police arrived .
"We're obstructed in our current investigations by people who, we believe, are withholding vital information that would assist us and Damien's family to uncover the truth around what happened in the hours before he died," Mr Beard said.
Police are appealing for anyone with information on Mr Allen's death to contact the confidential Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111.
