A senior transport official and anti-drink driving campaigner has quit his job after a drink-driving conviction.
Dennis Frank Robertson was convicted in Christchurch District Court on July 23, The Press reported.
He was fined and disqualified from driving.
Robertson was the New Zealand Transport Agency's (NZTA) southern manager of transport relationships.
NZTA spokesman Andy Knackstedt yesterday confirmed Robertson had resigned.
Drink-driving was regarded as a serious breach of the NZTA's code of conduct , he said.
Robertson was also chairman of the New Zealand Roadshow Trust, which promoted road safety in schools.
He would not comment yesterday.
