KEY POINTS:
New Zealand's youngest killer has been denied parole.
Bailey Junior Kurariki was just 12 when he and several other teenagers killed 40-year-old South Auckland pizza delivery man Michael Choy in 2001. He was sentenced to seven years' imprisonment and was refused parole when he first came up for consideration last year because he was considered too dangerous.
A few moments ago the Parole Board announced that he would not be released.
Judge David Carruthers, board chairman, said the decision "recognises the work that needs to be done before Bailey Kurariki is released back into the community".
Kurariki, now 17, is five years and five months into his sentence. His release date is September 16 2008, though he will be before the Parole Board again in July for continued monitoring of his progress.
