For the first time, students taking NCEA and scholarship exams can sign up to get official reminders and updates through social networking site Twitter.
Around 140,000 students will be involved with exams from November 14 to December 4.
The New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) has added Twitter messaging to existing communications methods to help ensure reminders of exam times and exam rules, and alerts about issues such as localised traffic problems, are passed on quickly to candidates.
Messages would be sent in plain English, not text language, and would not be sent during exam sessions, said NZQA spokesman Bali Haque.
