NZer to face British court martial

A New Zealand airman who refused to return for another tour of duty in Iraq will appear before a court martial panel in Britain later this week.

Malcolm Kendall-Smith does not want to go back to the war zone because he believes the conflict is illegal.

The Royal Air Force doctor was charged back in October.

Military sources said the 37-year-old would appear before the court martial on Thursday for a preliminary hearing.

A date for a full hearing has not been set.
