KEY POINTS:
A former colleague of Hawke's Bay woman Catherine Marlow throttled her with her own scarf and dumped her body in an office shower cubicle, a London court was told overnight.
Matthew Fagan, 32, an American citizen, is on trial at the Old Bailey accused of murdering Miss Marlow in January last year at the office where she worked as finance manager.
The court was told that Miss Marlow, 28, had gone into online market research company Research Now in the London suburb of Lambeth on a Saturday to catch up with work after a holiday. Fagan, who had been sacked by Research Now, allegedly returned to the company to steal computers.
He admitted going into the office and stealing six laptop computers, but denies murdering Miss Marlow.
Prosecuting counsel Richard Whittam QC said Miss Marlow's diligence in going to work on a Saturday cost her life.
"The attack she suffered left blood on the walls and floor of the reception area on the ground floor," he said.
"She suffered injuries to her head, arms and legs, and was throttled with her own scarf. She was dragged along the floor and dumped in a shower cubicle."
The trial was adjourned until Thursday.
