KEY POINTS:
A 24-year-old New Zealander has pleaded guilty to killing his 17-year-old sister in a car crash near Perth, in October 2007.
Quinton Arran Horne, formerly of the Perth suburb of Balcatta, pleaded guilty in the Perth District Court to charges of dangerous driving occasioning death and driving under the influence, the West Australian reported.
State Prosecutor James Newton-Palmer said Horne was driving a Holden Commodore sedan when he lost control of the vehicle on Balcatta's main street about 8pm on October 29.
The car had hit the median strip and became airborne, clipped a power pole, and hit a tree.
Horne's sister, from Northland, was a rear seat passenger and later died in hospital from extensive head and chest injuries.
Horne - who suffered only minor injuries - was remanded in custody to appear again on March 10, after a pre-sentencing report and psychological report have been compiled.
