KEY POINTS:
A New Zealand woman is at the centre of a homicide inquiry in the United States after she and her American partner were found dead in their California home.
Both had been shot in the head, the Press newspaper reported today.
Michelle Drone, 39, formerly from Westport, and her partner Barney Harrell, 38, were found on Monday in their home in the town of Lemoore, inland between San Francisco and Los Angeles.
Lemoore police commander Jeff Laws said the two scenarios were being considered "either double homicide or murder-suicide".
Ms Drone was survived by daughters Victoria, 12, and Elaina, six, who were at school at the time of the deaths.
The girls were staying with their father, who had separated from Drone last year.
