New Zealand is one of the best destinations in the world, British travellers say.
It was voted Britain's favourite long haul country to visit at The Guardian and The Observer Travel Awards in Boston on Monday, Tourism New Zealand chief executive George Hickton said yesterday.
He said an award from such prestigious publications was a "fantastic endorsement" of the board's 100 per cent Pure New Zealand campaign and hard work put into the British market by the New Zealand tourism industry.
The award follows a survey of 18,000 newspaper readers in January. Meanwhile, more short-term visitors saw demand for accommodation rise 6 per cent in May, compared with the same month last year.
