New Zealand bomb disposal experts in Afghanistan have been lent three Russian trucks to help in their role destroying seized arms, ammunition and bombs.
The Defence Force said its contingent had travelled to the north of Bamyan province to help local authorities destroy a cache of weapons, including rockets, bombs and small arms ammunition.
The latest contingent of the Provincial Reconstruction Team arrived in October.
Explosive ordnance disposal team member Chief Petty Officer Diver Graeme Meyer said the weapons being destroyed were generally found by locals, confiscated by police or surrendered to local authorities.
