A woman on the run after a high speed Auckland car chase in which a policeman was injured will have to give up at some point, police say.
Linda Cherie Phillips, 33, was one of three people in a stolen Ford Falcon car chased across the North Shore last Tuesday, before plunging off a wharf at Beach Haven into the harbour.
All three fled but one was caught a few hundred metres away a short time later. Another man was arrested in Wellington on Saturday.
He was due in Wellington District Court today on charges including aggravated wounding, burglary and theft of a motor vehicle.
North Shore area commander Inspector Les Paterson said it was not known if Phillips was also in Wellington when the other person was arrested.
"She has got to realise it is a small country and the net will close. She has got to give up at some point."
The car chase began at Albany, 18km north of Auckland, and went through Milford, Forrest Hill and Takapuna, before heading west to Beach Haven.
A policeman laying road spikes was hit by the car and thrown about six or seven metres into the air.
He was taken to hospital but discharged several days ago, although police said he was likely to be off work for about seven weeks.
"He is itching to get back to work but it is going to be a number of weeks before he is even suitable for light duties," Mr Paterson said.
