British police are trying to contact the next-of-kin of a New Zealand stable worker found hanged near a Suffolk horse racing centre.
Danny Daw, 50, was found hanging from a handrail near a small stream in The Watercourse, Newmarket, just minutes after drinking with friends on Wednesday, The East Anglian Daily Times reported.
Attempts by paramedics to revive him were unsuccessful.
Mr Daw worked as a stable hand at Darley Stud Management in Newmarket.
Close friend Brian Elder, 72, said he had no way of telling what may have triggered the death but he understood Mr Daw had recently received bad news about a bid to bring his Filipino wife to Britain.
Mr Daw had been living in Newmarket for the past three years, having moved to the town from New Zealand, where his family lives.
An inquest into his death will be held.
