New Zealand text messaging champion Cameron Morris will today pit his dextrous digits against competitors from across the world at the texting world cup in New York.
The 28-year-old Waiheke Islander became the national champion in November, beating a 16-year-old by two messages to win a $10,000 cash prize and a trip to the United States.
Competitors at the LG Mobile World Cup will be tested on both speed and accuracy, with the winner taking home a US$100,000 ($134,600) prize.
Mr Morris will face off against quick-thumbed opponents from dozens of countries including the US, South Africa, Australia, Russia and Korea.
He trained intensively for the event but said he had not suffered any injuries.
"God has just blessed me with small speedy thumbs," he told the Timaru Herald.
His wife will join him as a supporter at the event.
