KEY POINTS:
A fresh contingent of troops have left New Zealand for the Solomon Islands.
Forty-five Territorial Force soldiers flew out of Christchurch this morning bound for Honiara on a four-month deployment. They replace Defence Force personnel who have been in the region since July.
Commander Joint Forces Rear Admiral Jack Steer said the troops had been training together since October and were ready for the job at hand.
They will be providing assistance to police and helping with prison security, conducting patrols and mixing in with locals.
