A New Zealand resident has died in Vanuatu while diving on a wartime wreck.
The American woman - who has yet to be named - was an experienced, certified diver and was with a highly skilled guide when she died on May 2, the Vanuatu Daily Post reported.
She disappeared while diving on the wreck of the SS President Coolidge, a US luxury liner turned troop carrier that sunk when it hit a mine off Espiritu Santo in 1942, and was found unconscious several minutes later.
Desperate attempts to resuscitate her failed.
Her body would be repatriated to New Zealand, police said.
