The 71st anniversary of the Battle of Britain will be commemorated at the National War Memorial in Wellington tomorrow.
Governor-General Sir Jerry Mateparae, ministers, members of the Defence Force, the wider defence community and the diplomatic corps will attend.
"Twenty kiwi airmen lost their lives fighting for our country during this battle and we commemorate them on Thursday, alongside our British and Commonwealth partners who also suffered losses," Chief of Air Force Air Vice-Marshal Peter Stockwell said.
"It is an important day to remember the sacrifice that they made in this crucial battle of World War 2."
Canadian Minister of National Defence Peter MacKay, who is on an official visit to New Zealand, will lay a wreath.
