New Zealand Red Cross is sending three aid workers to the Philippines tomorrow to help in the massive relief effort to support survivors of Typhoon Haiyan.
Mike Carson from Wanganui, Thomas McNally from Auckland and Ewan Coldicott from Wellington hope to establish vital telecommunications links for the International Federation of Red Cross.
They're taking with them a tonne of IT and telecommunications equipment, as well as about 200 lockable, mosquito-proof, and heavy duty family tents to house those who have lost their homes.
Meanwhile, ChildFund New Zealand has received a donation of $100,000 from Fonterra to support its relief and recovery efforts.
ChildFund's initial emergency response is in three of the hardest-hit areas: Ormoc, Roxas and Tacloban.
