NZ population hits 4.36 million

New Zealand's population has hit 4.36 million following the highest population growth since March 2004.

The latest figures from Statistics New Zealand, also show half of the male population is now aged over 35 and half of women are over 37.

This median age has increased by over two per cent in the last 10 years, reflecting big growth in the 45-69 year old age group.
