Napier police are pleased at the seizure of a large quantity of cannabis.
More than 40 people have been arrested in Hawke's Bay after a police operation targeting growers.
Detective Senior Sergeant Mike Foster says they've found more than 12,000 plants over the past two weeks, worth more than 40 million dollars.
"It's certainly up on plant numbers from last year by three or so thousand, but we're certainly happy we've got 12,000 plants out of the system and arrested a number of people," he told Newstalk ZB.
Mike Foster says most of the growing was taking place in rural areas.
