New Zealand is providing an additional $4.3 million to help displaced people in the Sudan and in the fight against diseases there.
Associate Foreign Affairs Minister Marian Hobbs said representatives from NZAid, the Government's international aid and development agency, had reported there was an immediate need for funds.
"A poor harvest is compounding the effects of years of conflict, and people are facing severe food shortages," she said in a statement.
The $4.3 million will be spread between United Nations' food and health organisations.
